MMM'14 Week 1 & Liebster Award

And that's the 1st week of May gone already! I'll do my Me Made May roundups weekly, including Monday-Sunday.

Day 1: For a day in the office I wore my Happy Emery Date Dress with my Georgiana Knickers (not pictured) and RTW layers.

Day 2: I had Friday off and sewed all day at home (the dream!). I'm yet to make myself any jammies so I had to get dressed. I wore my Monochrome Tania Culottes, a felt ball necklace, opshop vest and RTW layers. Unpictured are the giant slippers and fluffly cardigan I wear around the house when its cold.

Day 3: On Saturday I attended my nieces 7th birthday party. I wore my newly made Navy Cord Moss Skirt with another opshoppped vest, a scarf stolen from my mums wardrobe years and years ago and RTW layers.

Day 4: Sunday, a day at home lounging, sewing, eating, and watching. I wore my denim Moss skirt and pink floral Rigel.

I've been very excited to receive Liebster award nominations from three lovely women: Sally from Sally Bee Makes nominated me at the end of March (I'm slack!). Go check our Sally's hacked Flora, you will not regret it! Kate from The Polka Dot Room nominated me in mid April. Kate has a wonderful collection of crafty posts, not limited to sewing alone. Finally, Kim from the Reves Mecanique nominated me on the 1st. I really enjoy reading Kim's posts they're always quirky and everything she makes I want for myself. Thank you ladies!

The Liebster Award works by posting a series of questions to a series of 'small' bloggers you love. Those bloggers then post more questions to bloggers they love. The rules seems to change slightly all over the place. The way I'm going to play is to answer all of the questions posted to me. But I'm not going to nominate any blogs. I have too many favourite blogs to listI also tend to link to favourite blogs and makes regularly in my posts anyway. If you have no interest in learning a whole lot of trivia about me then stop reading now!

Questions from Kate:

1. What is the the dress pattern you would recommend the most?
Probably Christine Haynes Emery Dress. The Instructions are really detailed and it seems to fit many people easily without major alterations. I've made two so far:  Happy Emery Date Dress and My Full O' Heart Emery

2. What’s the worst thing you have ever made and why?A Sewaholic Hollyburn Skirt. I made it out of a cotton sateen fabric with a brown and pink pattern I couldn't decided if I loved or hated the fabric when I bought it. Turned out I hated it.

3. If you could dress like any woman in history, who would it be? Probably Marilyn just because she wore her curves with such grace and confidence

4. Out of the four Sex and The City lead women, who would you be? Probably some where between Charlotte and Miranda.

5. Where and what would your ultimate holiday be? Around the world trip, no limits on spending or time.

Sally's Questions:

1. Why did you start blogging? When I began sewing I really appreciated others honest pattern reviews online. I wanted to share my own thought on various patterns and contribute back to the online community.

2. How do you get yourself out of a sewing funk? I force myself to sew! once I start I cant stop. Also, I might sew a TNT, something I've made many times before.

3. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why? I think I'd like to stay in Melbourne, but I might like to try a short period somewhere a little warmer. Maybe I need a house up north where Tim and I can go in the winter (wishful thinking!)

4. Sewing for other people: love it or loathe it? Love it, to an extent. I love to sew for others who I know will truly appreciate it.

5. What is your best feature? Who knows? Ask Tim.

6. If you had an infinite amount of money that would disappear after one day, how would you spend that day? I'd be super busy! Buying a house for Tim and I, anything my family might need, shouting Melbourne's homeless to hearty meals, clothes, a months rent... the list goes one.

7. What is your favourite fabric shop? That's like asking a mother to choose her favourite child! I don't have one. My regular in Darn Cheap.

8. What is your biggest sewing sin? I avoid hand sewing at all unsightly costs.

9. If you could make any sewing process disappear, what would it be? Hand sewing.

10. Which other crafts, if any, do you do? I really got into crochet last winter, hoping to get back into it now that the weather has called down.

11. Cats or dogs? Dogs

Kim's Questions:

1.What are you working on at the moment? I like to have a few things on the go: my Sew Cheap monthly make, some secret pattern testing, Sewaholic Belcarra Blouse.
2. Do you sew to relax or to get motivated? Sewing makes me feel relaxed and excited all in one.

3. What is your favorite type of sewing project? One that makes me think "how the hell did I make that"! Like Tim's Albion Jacket.

4. Who taught you to sew? I watched my mum sew clothes for us as kids. She taught me how to sew pencil cases for school and puppets. Otherwise I'm pretty self-taught.

5. What is your favourite colour / fabric to sew with?  All of them!!!

6. What do you do to relax if you are not sewing?
Read sewing blogs, watch TV with Tim (currently we are watching Mad Men & GOT), and I eat... a lot!

7. Where are you from?  I was born in Bendigo (Australia).

8. What aspect of sewing gets on your nerves? Hand Sewing!!!

9. What makes you happy? Tim, sewing, chocolate, great friends, family, warm weather.

10. What makes you sad?  Not knowing what to do, not having the answer.

11. What is your dream job??
This is a tricky question. It would definitely involve sewing but I'm not sure what else. I'd love to one day teach sewing classes, work in a fabric store, run a related business, try my hand at pattern design. I think dreams jobs change with time and experience.

Wow! We made it through. Thanks again to Sally, Kate and Kim for nominating my blog.
